Praise and Contemplation; The Music of Heinrich Schütz

To commemorate the 350th anniversary of the death of Heinrich Schütz, period-instrument ensemble Endelienta Baroque join forces with tenor David de Winter for a programme of solo vocal and instrumental works by this criminally-neglected composer. Experience music that meditates, music that celebrates, and music that gives thanks, all written against the backdrop of the Thirty Years' War that devastated Europe. A pre-concert Q&A will be given by Louis Morris (DPhil, University of Oxford) to provide a fascinating insight into seventeenth-century Europe.
